The Laguna
Veneto Club operates at its premises at 49 Homer Street, Dianella,
some 10 minutes from the center of Perth.
The Club caters for approximately 300 members. Providing
facillities for Bocce competitions, having a total of eight
under cover bocce alleys, all making it one of the best
Bocce facilities in Australia.
The
club has hosted two Australasian Senior Bocce Championships and one
Australasian Junior Bocce championship. Every year the club has had
representatives in both the men's and ladies' state teams.
The club operates with voluntary labour only. The ladies
committee works tirelessly to organise social functions and the
gardens and bar are maintained by roster. Members enjoy playing bocce
socially as well as in Federation interclub competitions. Social
functions are organised monthly and often upto 300 people attend.
In the Summer time, family BBQs are organised and in Winter
time there are several dinner dances. Father's Day and Mother's Day
lunches are major annual events as is Father Christmas for the kids.
On the
Anzac Day holiday in the afternoon the members celebrate the festa di
San Marco with games for the children and in the evening chestnuts are
roasted.
In August a Venezia masquerade ball is held where masks are
worn and polenta, qualie, muzet, radicchio and crostoli are served.
Radicchio is proudly grown on the club grounds.
The Ladies committee organises day trips
around Perth. The Laguna hall is also hired out for public use.
Exercise and
dance classes are held during the week and the hall is usually booked
on weekends for weddings, twenty first birthday parties and other
celebrations, by members and non-members alike.
The Unione Triveneto
Nel Mondo (Utrim Western Australia Inc.) was made an associate club of
the Laguna club in 1996.
Early in 1998 the Laguna Veneto Club was registered with the Regione
Del Veneto in Venice-Italy and is now recognised as the prime Veneto
